It is home to Andrews Air Force Base, Fed Ex Field, the Washington Redskins, the Bowie BaySox, and a community with a vast history. The county is home to almost a million people. Prince George's County MD History
Prince George's County was created in 1696 from land of Charles and Calvert Counties. In 1748, part of the land was given to form Frederick County. In the War of 1812, the British marched through Prince George's to burn down the White House. Francis Scott Key, a native of the county, wrote the nation's historical song the Star Spangled Banner. John Wilkes Booth also used Prince George's County as his escape route after assassinating Abraham Lincoln on his way to Virginia. Prince George's was dominated by tobacco farms for many years.

The MARC Train also has two lines that service the county while the AMTRAK train also makes three stops there. College Park Airport, a public airport in PG, is the world's oldest continuously operated airport. Highways I-95 and I-495 and Routes 1, 50 and 301 run through the county as well making it easy to get anywhere in the metro area.

Prince George's County is bordered by eight counties and cities. To the east and southeast are Anne Arundel and Calvert Counties. To the south lies Charles County. Fairfax County and Alexandria, VA are both across the Potomac River to the southwest. Washington, DC is to the west of the county and Howard County sits to the north.
