Guide to Hones for Sale in Ashton Heights

Ashton Heights is one of the premier single-family home neighborhoods along the Rosslyn-Ballston corridor, perfect for those looking for all of the space without compromising location. Situated just blocks away from Virginia Square, Ballston, and Clarendon, a couple of well-known Arlington parks, quaint roundabouts, and architecture that proves the area’s history, Ashton Heights is a neighborhood that is always in high demand.
Ashton Heights’ Location
The neighborhood of Ashton Heights is an unofficial “arm” of Ballston and Virginia Square, located just south of the two Orange line neighborhoods below Wilson Boulevard. Ashton Heights begins at the intersection of Wilson Boulevard and 10th St N, continues down N Irving Street, west on Arlington Boulevard, then north up Glebe Road until it intersects back at Wilson Boulevard.
Homes for Sale in Ashton Heights
As one of the oldest neighborhoods in Arlington, Ashton Heights has undergone a transformation since it was founded in the early 1900s. Like many of the other predominantly single-family home neighborhoods in Arlington, this neighborhood became a popular spot for commuters to settle due to its proximity to Washington, DC. With the addition of the Orange line Metro in the 1980s, even more began to call the North Arlington community their home. Since the neighborhood has been developing into what it is today for the past 100+ years, you’ll find an interesting mix of new homes, as well as older homes that have been restored to their former glory. Craftsman, Colonial, Cape Cod, and Tudor Revival style homes blend together seamlessly on the tree-lined streets of the community. No two homes look the same, which is what draws so many to the neighborhood in the first place.
Things to Do in Ashton Heights
The great thing about Ashton Heights is that it’s still so close to all of the urban villages of Arlington, including the popular Ballston and Clarendon neighborhoods. For a morning coffee or a casual evening glass of wine, check out the Northside Social Coffee & Wine Bar. The best restaurants and bars of Ballston and Clarendon are either in walking or driving distance from many of the homes of Ashton Heights: Rustico, Liberty Tavern and Pupatella are just a selection of longtime favorites in the area.
There is no shortage of community activities and recreation in Ashton Heights, with an active Civic Association, pocket parks, and the Arlington Arts Center. The neighborhood has a lots of community activities for children and families alike, with youth soccer leagues, annual road races, public pools and swim teams, and the Thomas Jefferson Community & Fitness Center. Pocket parks are sprinkled throughout the neighborhood, which provide residents with play areas and green space close to home. The four main parks in the area include Maury Park, Gumball Park, Mosaic Park, and Herselle Milliken Park. Mosaic Park is the largest of the four, and has bocce courts and a fun playground for kids, complete with climbing walls.
Getting Around Ashton Heights
Besides extra space and a historic flair, Ashton Heights is in a prime location. Depending on where each resident’s home is located on the neighborhood, they can be serviced by the Clarendon, Virginia Square or Ballston Orange line Metro stations. Driving commuters are also in luck, since two main Arlington driving arteries, Arlington Boulevard and N Glebe Road, border Ashton Heights. This provides residents with easy access to I-66 and I-395.
