Columbia is roughly constricted by the Middle Patuxent River and I-95 to the south, Waterloo Road to the east, Clarksville Pike to the north and its interception with Guilford Road completes the area’s boundaries to the west. Ellicott City borders the community to the north, Elkridge and later Halethorpe to the east, Laurel to the south, and Clarksville to the west.

The majority of the homes for sale in Columbia consist of single-family detached homes. The detached homes here can be varied, from large, luxurious Colonials to smaller, more contemporary-style homes. Townhouses and apartment buildings can also be found here, but they are scarce compared to the vast amount of listings available for single-family detached homes. Things to Do in Columbia
The Mall in Columbia is a large, regional shopping mall with five anchor department stores: Nordstrom, Lord & Taylor, Sears, Macy’s and JCPenney. The mall also contains a multiplex movie theater and more than 200 stores and restaurants.
Sushi King, located on Dobbin Road, is a popular Japanese restaurant featuring sushi shuttled by servers in traditional garb. Considered one of the best places in the area to eat sushi, this decently priced gem is consistently terrific and their masterpieces are created by versatile chefs. Nearby is Stanford Grill, an American restaurant with a casually stylish setting offers American fare and live jazz. Other fabulous restaurants in Columbia are not limited to Royal Taj Restaurant, Victoria Gastro Pub and Iron Bridge Wine Company.
Merriweather Post Pavilion is a well-known outdoor concert venue and is located within Columbia, just south of the mall. This venue attracts many prominent performers, as well as several performing arts organizations that present professional theater, children’s programs, community outreach programs and master classes.
Enjoying the Great Outdoors in Columbia
Columbia is home to Clarksville Environmental Area, located on Totter Road. This preserved parkland provides miles of nature trails and is home to a variety of plants and wildlife. South of this area is the Middle Patuxent Environmental Area. MPEA, as it is sometimes referred, is located next to the River Hill village and was created in 1996 for educational, research and recreational purposes. The MPEA is home to over 40 species of mammals, as well as numerous amphibians, reptiles, fish, butterflies and other wildlife. The area also contains roughly 5 miles of hiking trails including the Wildlife Loop Trail and the South Wind Trail—both passing along the Middle Patuxent River.
Cedar Lane Park is a popular park in Columbia. Located on Cedar Lane, this 93-acre park offers basketball, handball, tennis and volleyball courts. There are also up to 7 multipurpose fields, with nearly half of them used for baseball and softball. The site also features pathways, a pavilion, a playground, streams and woodlands. Fairway Hills Golf Course and Hobbit’s Glen Golf Course are also within the community.
Traveling Around Columbia
Six Howard Transit bus routes serve Columbia and connect it with its neighboring areas including Ellicott City and BWI Airport. There are also several MTA routes providing access to and from both Washington, DC. and Baltimore, while its weekday service connects residents to the Washington Metro system. Some major interstates and non-highway roads are I-95, Route 29, 32, 100 and 175. Most of these highways allow easy access to Baltimore, DC, and Annapolis. The Dorsey MARC train station is also nearby.

We love love love visiting Clyde's in Columbia overlooking the lake. The happy hour is wonderful but the food is great anytime of the day. It is also great to visit when they are hosting outside events and entertainment.
