WO & D trail
Meandering through the center of Herndon is the infamous WO &D trail. The train station and caboose are landmarks and the center of the fairs and festivals each year. Old Herndon has fun and fine dining. Shopping is easy and the huge loop of Herndon Parkway allows the outskirts of town to easily travel into town. Herndon is primarily residential but one can find shopping, office buildings and is the next stop for the Silver Line. Minutes to Dulles Airport and a straight shot down Rt. 66 to D. C. makes Herndon a great hub. When shopping for a home, don't overlook this cute town.
For all of you looking for the taste of Europe try this quaint little restaurant on the corner of Herndon Parkway and Elden Street. Euro Bistro, the Austrian/German restaurant of Herndon, offers reasonably priced, mouth-watering meals. The Sauerbraten is a personal favorite that I could eat every day. The braised beef can be cut by a fork and the spatzle is perfectly cooked. My recommendation for dessert is their ever popular Apple Strudel!
A staple of Franklin Farm, Piero's Corner is by far my favorite Italian restaurant in the area. It's sounds simple, but their Vine Ripe (caprese salad) is fantastic, as is their bread and olive oil. Follow it up with Eggplant Rollantino and maybe scoop of homemade gelato - perfecto!
ArtSpace celebrates the arts
There is always something to see, hear or do in this community centerpiece located in the historic part of downtown. The variety of art exhibits is exciting and the atmosphere is so friendly and inviting. I love the receptions which highlight each exhibit and give an opportunity to meet the artists as well as mingle. It provides a gathering place, supports area artists and offers classes. They even have a New Year's Eve Celebration. Don't miss it!
