A significant portion of most real estate agents’ business comes from repeat clients and referrals. To achieve this consistent client base as an agent, especially an agent who’s still growing their business, you need to have consistent communication with your sphere of influence (SOI). An SOI is made up of the people you know and who know you. And a strong SOI is important for agents who work with both buyers and sellers. 

According to the recent Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers conducted by the National Association of REALTORS®, 91% of buyers would use their agent again or recommend their agent to others, while 77% of recent sellers contacted only one agent before finding the right agent they worked with to sell their home. With so many real estate agents out there, how do you stay top of mind with your sphere of influence while carving out  new business opportunities as well?

It’s important to use marketing that gets noticed, and online marketing is one of the easiest ways to reach a wide audience with tailored content. Putting your success on display with social media posts and images is a good way to remind your current contacts you’re active in your business and that you continue to achieve success. Prospects want to know that you’re busy and that you have a proven track record of selling homes. You can also use your social channels for educational purposes, to observe important holidays or simply to provide inspirational material. The benefit of this content is that, as you target your current sphere, you also have the opportunity to  reach and get noticed by a wider audience. Think friends of friends and friends of their friends! The more frequent your content, the better the chance you have to attract more people to your business, solidifying in their heads that you’re the local trusted expert they should work with.   

Besides online marketing, print is the tried and true method to get the good news out there. Think postcards and door hangers announcing a new listing or closed property. It’s crucial to keep communicating through each stage of the transaction, so you will continue to get noticed!
